It took a long time due to a parts situation that took 10 days to get from Japan. But it is home now and I am very pleased.
They also replaced the rubber grip, cleaned mirror box and sensor. Adjusted AF, did and image test, checked flash also a
general clean and check. The initial problem was the CF card pins needed replacing and now all is well. It's so nice and
quick and works like when it was new. It seems to me that it would be good every 4 years or so to send it in for CLA,
the price was very reasonable.

Tony - glad to hear the news. Many many years ago I used to send my Nikon film cameras to Nikon in Japan for repairs. They always did a superb job and fixed other stuff as well. Good to hear they are still doing it

Tony, where did you send it for the repairs? Nikon in New York, or LA, or Authorized Photo Service in Illinois?

This is really exciting. It makes me feel like the D700 is like a classic film camera. Here to stay and here to be serviced.
