I got lucky at the flea market today. Not just any NOOKY, but Pleasant Auto-Up Super NOOKY!! Now that I've got all this NOOKY, I don't quite know what to do with it. I tried to read the instructions, but they don't really do me any good. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of NOOKY?

Be gentle with me.

The bit that has me confused are the two different length connectors that allow you to set the in-front-of-the-viewfinder-window-thing at different distances from the body. There are not markings to indicate what goes where and when it goes there.

Wow. Pleasant Auto-Up Super NOOKY. They really don't make 'em like that any more. :) I don't even know what this should do, but I noticed the box indicates it's for 50mm AND 90mm Elmars. One in-front-of-the-viewfinder-window-thing for each length, maybe?

I'm from a very conservative family. It was not done to talk about Leica in general and NOOKY in particular. So I'm quite curious what NOOKY is for?

Please, Enjoy your NOOKY, Just be safe, use proper protection.

what the.....

NOOKY is the code name that Leica used for a close up adapter years ago, the product that I bought is a clone of that adapter. It just happens to have a meaning in English that the folks in Wetzlar likely never knew about. It's now grown into a gigantic running joke amongst the Leica user/collector community.

My research indicates that the Pleasant Auto-Up Super NOOKY is less valuable than the very rare Painful Manual Standard NOOKY. For some reason they didn't build many of those. ;)

I've not played with mine enough yet ;) . The pictures were a bit fuzzy from my first attempts...The shallow DOF made critical focusing all the more critical. :(

Have fun with yours Landsknechte :)

I have the plain "Pleasant Auto-Up NOOKY", not the Super version.
You have a close up lens which "screws" into the front of the lens. Well, maybe attach is the proper term, as it pushes on the front and tightens down with a friction screw.

The large semi-rectangular glass is a prism that compensates for parallax, and also adjusts the rangefinder to the closer focusing distances of the close up lens. Use the short rod for the 50mm lens, and the longer rod for the 90mm lens? You may have to experiment here. The whole assembly hangs off the accessory shoe of your camera, which is what that flash shoe adapter device is for.
