I picked up a Yashica electro 35 GS on the bay. It came with it's original box and everything. I set it up and took some images of my Greyhound, Edie. A few things I noticed....it seemed weird not hearing that "tha-thunk" of the SLR. I also have to figure out how to focus the thing. I should have expected how quiet it was but it was still a little un-nerving. One thing I didn't expect is doesn't seem to have a shutter speed setting...aperture priority only. It may also have the issue of the meter not working..the battery checks but I didn't see any lights come on.

You're right, it chooses the shutter speed for you. You can only set the aperture. For many types of photography, that's a great thing.

It's that leaf shutter that makes it so quiet. You'll get used to it, and then you'll miss it when you pick up an SLR.

Congrats on the buy. I just picked up an Electro CC in a bargain bin here in Japan for 500 yen (about 7 usd) and am having a lot of fun with it. Hope you get the meter figured out.

Thanks guys! Sebastian, that article is really helpful ...I wish I looked at it *before* I threw a roll of film in there....oh well.. :) Thanks again!
