My new book, “SEEING,” is now available on my web site.

It's not a typical Photography book exactly. Rather it's a crossover book combining insights, earned the hard way, with images that can either give you a break between the insights, or give you a starting point to take the insights even further into places words can not go. The two words used most frequently to describe this book by independent bookstore owners, professionals and readers who have seen it so far are “inspiring” and “beautiful.”

I took it to a Photography portfolio review in San Francisco last March and there I met David Bayles (who traded a back cover blurb for an advance proof copy) and Ted Orland, the co-authors of “Art and Fear.” They both loved what I had done and urged me to self-publish as they have. Photographer, mentor and friend, Connie Imboden wrote the Foreword.

You can learn more about it on my website:

I hope some of you will consider adding “SEEING” to your photo book collection.

Well Charlie, I tried to buy your book, but I cannot, because it is not true that you can avoid Paypal in this payment procedure, and Paypal has been declared illegal in Monaco, where I live.
Another point: you take photographs in a similar way to what I do often as well. Please, explain to me, why do you call these spiritual? I'm curious, because I do not believe in spirits. For me it is just a perception of form.
Last point: it would be nice to be able to preview the whole book.
Well done anyway!

Thanks Stephen.

mfogiel,,

I did not say you could avoid PayPal, only that you do not need a PayPal account to to use a credit card to make a purchase. If you want to buy the book without using PayPal , send me an email and I will send you my mailing address where you can send a check.

I am not claiming the images are spiritual in any way, only that their making is a part of my spiritual practice. If you go to my web site, you can read more. The book is actually about the insights, and the photographs exist only to take the reader beyond what words can express.

Looks interesting so I've taken the plunge and ordered a copy!
Perhaps I'll get a signed copy! LOL
Publishing yourself isn't the easiest of activities!

From the few photos I've seen, it looks excellent.

Compositionally, my eyes are confused by the placement of the phrases next to each image, but to each his own!

Well done.

It's a inspirational book that uses photography to take the experience beyond what words can convey, so the words are the starting point, not the other way around. The images would have been fine on their own, but this is not meant to be a portfolio book only. Of course it is that, but it's the insights the images conjure up that are the the reason for the book.
