I remember reading something a while ago about Simon having an article in LFI but at that time, I remember thinking to myself that I will probably never see it due to the fact that getting LFI out here is next to impossible, unless I subscribe to it.....

Well a couple of months ago I was in South Florida and I visited the store, Dale Photo and Digital to buy some soft releases and check out the store....while I was in the store, I noticed that they had LFI for sale and I asked how much they were and the nice girl (Kirsten Vignes) who works there told me they were 5.00 USD......I told her I wanted one because I live in Bangkok and they are next to impossible to find.....

well, she reached under the table and pulled out 5 different (older) issues of LFI (brand new) and gave them to me for free.......I thanked her and told her that I would share them with my photo friends back in Bangkok and I really appreciated them.....

well, I usually read National Geographic when I get my weekly Thai foot massages, but I have started to bring the LFI's with me, and well......tonight as I was getting a foot massage and reading an issue I saw some photos that I recognized and then it clicked, I was reading Simon's article......what a pleasant surprise......

Cheers to you Simon, and when we finally get to meet.....the beers are on me.....

cheers, michael

thanks michael, i will come to bangkok sooner or later.
apart from the fact that i would answer their questions a little differently today, i have to say i'm not too fond of how they sent me questions to answer and then just turned the (slightly modified) answers into an article that looks like i wrote it myself - without a sign of the actual questions. their translation from german to english isn't perfect either. it was a very nice feature nonetheless and i'm happy you got to see it eventually. :)

oh wow, I thought you wrote that article......interesting information......regardless, I am happy for you and the article, I enjoyed reading it and looking at your photos...... we can talk about "photography" and all that other stuff when we eventually meet at some place in this world........until then.....keep up the good work, you are definitely an inspiration to me and I enjoy your style very much.....

cheers, michael

Would it be possible to scan the article and post it, or send?
impossible to get any decent photo mag around here, LFI included...

Question is, if it's OK for LFI, since they sell their old mags on their site AFAIK ;)

That is a good question and I do not know the answer, nor do I know the rules of scanning articles and posting them on rff........I think I will hold off on doing it, just so I don't break any rules and get anybody (myself) in trouble......

cheers, michael

Me neither, but I'd be cautious when it comes to copyright issues and stuff.

Cheers

Edit:

Found this on LFI, don't now if this applies to print media, but I'd think so:

The copyright for published items created by LFI itself lies solely with the company LFI Photographie GmbH. It is not permitted to copy or use such photos, texts, graphics or audio files in other electronic or print publications without the explicit consent of LFI Photographie GmbH.

If you have an iPad you can now buy LFI magazine from the current issue and back several years. older issues are super cheap through the app. The app is really slow but once loaded it looks great.

also it's not the old lfi mastershots app.

Gordon

thanks!
You guys are probably right about copyright issues.
No big deal though. Simon, I hope I can have a look at the feature in LFI when we meet.

Thanks everybody for the info....I won't be scanning/posting any of the article on here, I don't want to break any copyrights and/or upset anybody......

It's a good thing that we get to see Simon's photos here and all, but it's also interesting to read the interview.....once again, good job Simon.....

Cheers, michael

Hello Pete, unfortunately, no that is not the article.......the article in LFI is not conducted in a question /answer interview.....it is written as an article about him and his thoughts.....

if you look at the 2nd post in this thread you can see Simon's view on the article.....

BTW, that is a cool interview by japancamerahunter....

cheers, michael
