No real content to this, just random musing, but...

I've left my R-D 1's sequential numbering preference turned on since it was new, so I realized I was approaching a bit of a milestone today when I noticed the frame numbers were getting into the 9995... 9996... 9997... 9998 range.

It struck me as odd that the next file after "_EPS9999.ERF" wasn't "_EPS0000.ERF" -- instead it made a new folder on my SD card and jumped straight to "_EPS0001.ERF." Somehow this disappointed me a bit -- it just didn't seem quite so much of a landmark -- but basically I'm pleased that my R-D 1 has now survived 10,000 exposures.

Actually it's probably more than that -- I seem to recall that at least once I've left it without a battery long enough to lose the date and time settings, and I suspect when that happens it loses the number sequence as well. I remember there also was some question as to whether applying the firmware update would reset the number sequence, but it strains my credulity to think I would have made 10,000 exposures since the firmware update came out!

Anybody else rolled over the odometer on your R-D 1?

PS -- I wish my 10,000th R-D 1 picture had been more momentous, but it wound up being just another trivial moment in a long afternoon of rehearsals. Still, for curiosity's sake, here it is...

Congrats, JLW!

Mine didn't roll over yet but I've experienced a restart a couple fo times. IIRC it had to do with me deleting all the files from the card while it was in my laptop instead of quick formatting in-camera.

After upgrading the firmware I didn't experience any roll over. It just continued counting where it had left of.

Your other 9999 were better than this?

Hey you might a moved a bit to right or left but this is a good shot.

There is suspense in the out of frame activity, and dont reveal the secret...
