Anything on Ebay being auctioned by KB cameras DO NOT BID! And if won don't pay. apparently no longer in business - at least for the time being. I am $700 poorer for my efforts and no Leica Motor Drive to show for it.

Something really bad must have happened for Richard O to care so little about his business... Sorry about your experience, though. I guess you've already exhausted the means to get your money back at least.

Good luck anyway!

If you paid with a credit card or PayPal you have options to recover some or all of your money

"some" is correct if you're talking about Paypal. You won't
get all of it back unless the seller pays up.

It's important to keep in mind too that Paypal will not help
with regard to defective materials or items per non-eBay
transactions. I found this out the hard way after being
burned for $20 worth of shutter curtain material from Oleg.

It's a very good idea to read Paypal's User Agreement.

It sucks to loose $700, but keep trying. Call them and keep calling them (Voice: 1-360-656-6835 & FAX: 1-360-656-6838). Send them a fax about the issue. At some point you will reach a person and keep going up the food chain till you are happy.

Find proof of payment, proof that it was cashed, fax it to them.

Of the 10 or so times I have had a bad ebay experience, I have fix 7 of them with over communication. On the opposite side, I have had a dozen experiences for small items that were world class and fun.

Call during regular business hours, ask for the manager and work through it.

Let us know how you make out.

This is a significant enough bit of information to warrant keeping this thread visible, so I'm bumping. Jorge put up a notice probably 2~3 months ago that there were issues at KB and that they were in a bad state.. It's one thing to have a business in dire straits, but it's another to continue to post auctions. The former is "acceptable," the latter is irresponsible, and to continue to take Paypal borders on scamming.

I hope it works out for the best. Thanks for the heads-up.

boilerdoc's auction was some time ago, i think, around the time jorge posted his notice.

That may be, but HERE is my point. KB still has active auctions (at least two). This one is for a several hundred dollar item. If they've no intention on consummating their auctions, and (judging from recent feedback they're receiving) they're obviously not, then they are scamming people.

agreed, that would not be very cool.
i didn't realize they were still 'active'

and a really bad pic too.

I was in Bellingham (actually Fairhaven) on Wednesday and poked around the building that KB Camera lists as the address. Not a trace of him, that I could see.

I am really sorry to hear how badly kb is doing... I got a whole lot of stuff from them and was always treated very well. Something is up. If anyone knows the story could they please enlighten those of us who knew them as a reputable dealer?

The KB Camera web site has a lot of good information on Leica equipment. I hope it isn't all lost. Perhaps there is a way to ethically and legally preserve this information somewhere else on the internet. On the other hand, is the information available in a variety of locations? Either way it would be a good idea to have historical information in a cental location. KB Camera was a good location.
