A friend has a Leica M2 that developed a balky shutter and will need a CLA. I recommended DAG but he says KEH is less expensive than DAG's $290 charge and will send it out to KEH instead.

I've bought from KEH many times with excellent service but am wondering about their repair service.

Any experience with their service?

I used them for a shutter in my Hasselblad 150 Sonnar. One shutter blade tor in half. th eparts and labor ran around $160. The lens works fine but the focusing helix is a little loose now. I have always used Koh Camera and just thought I would try them. From now on I'll use Koh.

I have used KEH repair service before. It has been fast and fine. Their online repair estimate tool will give you an idea of their costs and what they do.

For an M2, Youxin Ye in Boston is much less expensive than DAG, and a Leica specialist.

Don has one of my M3's. Hopefully it will come back soon. I sent it out in early April.

Even though he's a bit slow (backlogged) I prefer him since he is factory trained..

Why would they have to remove a focusing helix to repair a shutter blade?

No idea. I don't know what the procedure is for shutter blade replacement. There's definately some slop that wasn't there before.
