Many folks here on RFF give Ken Rockwell a hard time, but I want you guys to know that he was able to do what you owners of the M9 could not!! He made me a firm believer in that the M9 "IS INDEED" the best ditigal camera in the world!....PERIOD!! If you take time to read all his review on this camera & look at the stunning photos he took while vacationing in Yosemite & Eastern Sierra. How could anyone not say they would love to own this camera! Even his random shots playing around with the M9 are rich! I love how he proves without a doubt that the sensor in the Nikon D3 & Canon MK 1 whatever, do not even measure up to the USA Kodak made sensor in the M9. This is simply the best review I have ever read on the M9. Check it out if you already haven't.

peroid sounds like steroid
</off topic>
and no matter what mister Rockwell says, the M9 is -indeed- more or less the only digital camera that I'm interested in atm. not interested enough to spend 5000€ on it though.

are you kidding, Yanick? flash synch speeds are the FIRST thing I look for when considering a camera.

DO NOT believe a word Ken says!
Just kidding. While I do not generally like Ken's reviews, I enjoyed reading about him falling in love with Leica hardware. It is something that happened to me about 20 years ago!
I agree with much Ken said but Leica and rangefinder photography is not for everyone! Many leap into Leica gear only to realize that lack of AF can be a pain in the butt! Some of my DSLR friends are baffled why one would spend so much for so little! LOL

It's not the camera, it's the photographer. If you can't take a good picture with a cheap disposable then you won't be able to take a good picture with a M9. The camera only adds better technical specs, it does nothing to make you a better photographer.

OK, It's a nice review...
Seriously, the camera is nice, and Ken is nice.
I like better the MP, and Susan Sontag.

My favorite Ken Rockwell M9 comment: "The LEICA M9 is the smallest, lightest, highest-quality digital camera ever created by the hand of Man."
He is passionate!

What a guy!....he convinced me that a Nikon D40 was all I really needed - 'cos thats the one he reaches for - on a regular daily basis! ( he was right too!)
.....yes!...helluva guy! LOL!

Honestly, yet I go to his page sometimes, hoping to smile, but lately I seldom find humor or new things... Not even old and interesting things... It's as if he got nothing new to say after he said digital is the best, and after some time later he said analog is the best...
Cheers,

Wonderful!
I especially liked the impressive picture of Sammy's bathroom. This truly demonstrates both the capabilities of Ken Rockwell and Leica M9 and is the ultimate purpose of this greatest digital camera ever!

Lots of stuff got my interest here. Ken Rockwell. Always good for LOTS of irate comments, and the odd positive ones. Then there's the naked women running around in dark bars. Well, I'm certainly all for that, although photographing them is way down on the priority list.
As for Ken's review writing skills, he's the best. Oh, I may not agree w/ what he says, but it's always entertaining. Better than reading MTF charts for sure. And I like his devil may care attitude about things. He apparently could care less what someone else thinks. I like that in a person.
I'm still uninterested in the M9 since I shoot B&W, so it's not a good thing to shoot digital for that in my experience, but if I wanted to shoot color digital AND use my Leica M lenses w/o a crop factor, there's the M9 and not much else. Like all things Leica, the insanely high purchase price should be balanced out by the high resale price. I sure would feel nervous going out and shooting w/ a multi thousand dollar camera though. I have a habit of knocking cameras against doorways and other things.

The absolute best thing about Ken Rockwell....
The absolute best thing about Ken Rockwell....
Absolutely, the man is, above all, a marketing genius.
How do I know? White space and easy read!!
He uses predominantly black text on white pages and exhibits the use of lots of white space. He knows what he is doing as far as furthering his impact on the internet.
Also, these attributes make his web site very responsive (fast).

Hey, guys... guys...? Remember me...? I wrote a review of the M9 too. Leica thanked the dealer that loaned me one of the first M9s so they must have liked it...
And I'm the same guy that thought the M8 was a disaster and took a ****-load of heat for it here....
