After corresponding with Mr. Liu, who eb*ys as HEAVYSTAR
he now has a ventilated metal 40.5mm lens hood/shade
available on the auction site at a buy-it-now $14.88
The 'vents' mean you no longer block out half the viewfinder!

This will fit most rigid mount FSU lenses, and should work fine on
our J-8M & H-103's. No connection, other than as a customer of his.
Yes, FED & Zorki users can avail themselves, too.

Thanks for the heads up. I just grabbed one for my J-8.
Me too! I searched through the 7 pages of listings (lots of useful stuff) and found one more 40.5 vented hood available, and also got a 82mm wide hood. The 40.5 should also work well on the 2.0/40mm M-Rokkor. Good catch, thanks Rick!

Wow, thank you for alerting us to this opportunity. I bought one of the vented 39mm hoods to use on a Summitar with an adapter. It will be a big upgrade at a reasonable price.

ya think a 40.5 hood could be 'pinched' to fit a 40mm size thread?

The other way around, maybe, but a 40.5 filter/hood does not fit a 40mm filter thread lens...

Thanks for the heads up. The 40.5mm size is also for the Neoca IVS rangefinders too.

If you miss out on one auction, just scroll thru the rest or wait a day. The 40.5's seem to sell quite quick, but he always relists with more.

I bought a 40.5 also. I will probably buy a 39mm for leica glass after I see the quality of the 40.5 hood. Thanks for the heads up.
