Kodak Alaris acquired by California-based private equity firm

I'm not sure what, if any, impact this will have on production and distribution of Kodak film and chemistry, but being acquired by a private equity firm doesn't sound like it bodes well.

To be fair Eastman Kodak (not Alaris) makes the film. Alaris just orders it up and acts as the retailer for the consumer end of the film distribution chain.

Still the acquisition is worrying, but it's at least good to know that they can't directly affect production of photographic film and emulsion. I guess they (Alaris) could jack up prices further since they have deciding power over that. Or I guess they could try to get out of the film business entirely, in which case Eastman Kodak would have to find another distributor.
