I figured Film vs Digital was the right thread for this.
British Journal of Photography said:Less than a month after announcing that it would seek bankruptcy protection in the US, Kodak has announced that it will stop the production of digital cameras and picture frames, as well as pocket-size video cameras.
"For some time, Kodak's strategy has been to improve margins in the capture device business by narrowing our participation in terms of product portfolio, geographies and retail outlets. Today's announcement is the logical extension of that process, given our analysis of the industry trends," says Pradeep Jotwani, Kodak's chief marketing officer.

Fantastic news! I hope Kodak can continue to operate and we can enjoy this magnificent media for a long long time.

Mixed feelings about this. For a while Kodak was really doing something interesting with digital, but then they ended up cranking out cookie cutter crap cameras.
But this is still the company that invented the digital camera, had a killer 14MP AA-less full-frame DSLR 8 years ago, had the only black and white sensor DSLR, made point and shoots with dual lenses (a wide prime and a normal zoom), etc. They were really innovative for a while and it is sad to see it all come to an end.
