Any owners and users of a Kodak Signet 40 around here? My question is simple: how much would you pay for a working one?
I do not think myself as a collector, so I do not need it to complement my collection. I actually do not even own any Kodak cameras, rangefinders or others. I'm looking primarily for user experiences, but any stories or opinions are naturally appreciated.

I purchased a Signet 40 with a matching flashgun from an "as is" parts bin about 28 years ago. It was not broken, someone just couldn't figure out how to operate it. Cost was $5.00. I would not pay more than $5.00 for one today. While it is an interesting looking camera, the earlier Signet 35 has a better lens and is better built.
It sells for anywhere from $25 to $50 on e-Bay. I personally think $35 is a fair price for a a functioning, undamaged one.

I've got one. I think I got it at somebody's yard sale. It is, in fact, the camera that got me back into rangefinders. I took it to Mexico, along with my DSLR, and it did a pretty good job. Since then, I bought a, Bessa R and a handful of lenses, then sold that whole kit when I needed to upgrade my DSLR. Since then, I've acquired a Vivitar 35ES, a Minolta 7s (a paperweight at the moment), a Canonet GIII (arrived today), and awaiting a QL17.
In other words, that Kodak Signet 40 started me down the slippery slope...
Regards!

Me too. It was the first camera I ever bought -- way back in high school.fishtek said:In other words, that Kodak Signet 40 started me down the slippery slope...
