I just found this at Kickstarter. Kolari, the same folk who make UV/IR filters, Leica M sensors and do IR camera conversions, are now making sunglasses.

Instead of plastic, the lenses are made from Corning Gorilla Glass, and block IR and UV wavelengths.
It's a very intriguing idea, although as a prescription glasses wearer, this counts me out.
