I finally got back my first roll of film (Kodak 400 C-41) with the Komura 105mm 3.5. The infinity RF setting showed me non overlapping images, so I suspected that the RF was off, but the images show reasonably sharp images. The lens is not large, but it is larger than the Canon 100mm 3.5.

I picked twelve images from the frame. Many shots were taken at 5.6~8.
By the way, the lens has a very nice finishing and it is well built. I have been told that I have slightly overpaid. Oh well.

I think that the lens does not need any adjustments/shimming based on these images. Do you agree?

It looks like the RF and actual focus agree. Try a shot wide-open at infinity. Sometimes I use a piece of copper tape over the RF cam to build it up. They can get worn, and thrown off.

Brian,

I will take a photo wide open at infinity, but what are you looking for? Is it possible that the lens is OK for close-ups but not at infinity?

Very possible. When used close-up, the focus can be a little bit off and you may not notice with your test shots. Infinity is more absolute...and does not move aroung as much.
