Hello,

I've just received a Koni Omega (early black Rapid with Hexanon lens) and it seems to have been damaged in the post. The viewfinder (eye piece side) glass is cracked.

I paid £63 for the camera including postage, and it wasn't damaged in the pictures. I'm inclined to keep the camera given the cost, but would like to replace the broken glass.

There's some talk on the internet that some opticians can make replacement viewfinder lenses but I wondered if there's anyone known to have parts for these cameras.

Thank you,

Jonathan

Is it just plain glass like most cameras have in front of the viewfinder? You could probably replace that with a piece of glass cut to size, preferably coated glass of course if you can find any.

Unfortunately this is on the back of the camera, the eye piece.

I've had a quick look on ebay but the price of parts cameras, it would possibly make more sense to use one of those instead, with the working back from my camera. This option may make some sense but it seems a shame just to write one off, and somewhat irritating to end up with a spare body to not be used / taking up room.

Shall keep looking.

Getting interested in the Koni Omegas. 6x7 is my kinda thing.

Any good addresses in EU or UK that sell them at a decent price?

I've been eyeing them, too and haven't seen many in Europe. They're so cheap in the US that importing would probably be worthwhile even after customs/taxes/shipping.
