As you know this fine camera has one serious flaw--a cheap, plastic battery cover--that cracks. Can one be made out of Delrin or brass or stainless steel? Which is recommended--must it be made out of plastic to eliminate conductivity or was it originally made out of plastic just to cut cost?

Who can make a replacement?

I always wondered about this myself.
It's a really cheap touch on such a fine camera.

I have run across several otherwise good Konica Auto S2's
with broken or missing battery covers as their only problem.

The cap screws down into plastic on the positive side of the battery.
The contacts are on the side and bottom of the battery chamber.
Nothing would short out if it were made of a conductive material.

But unless you own a machine shop the cost to fabricate such
a replacement would likely be prohibitive.

Perhaps there's a metal cap from some other camera that fits.
Good luck finding which one, though... 🙁
