Hi, I have a Konica Auto S that I just overhauled. It had somewhat sticky aperture blades that in my opinion weren't returning snappy enough. When opening it up I tried to get to the shutter from the front but that didn't work. I succeeded washing the aperture blades but was stupid enough to removing some screws that made the shutter blades to come out! I had to do the whole job so I just thought I could share it with you, maybe it could be of some help. So this is what I did today...

Very nice work!
I have a S3 in my stack of cameras to work on. Originally I thought it was just a wire that needed resoldering but it looks like I'll need to go further to figure it out.

I though we all gave up on the meters, just happy to have a working camera

Konica Aperture blades issue
Konica Aperture blades issue
Hey, I see you did major surgery on your S3. Congrats on the successful operation. I have an issue with mine. The aperture blades don't open fully after depressing the shutter release button. They stay around the f2.8 mark or so. I've included 2 pics so you can see. The first with the shutter depressed. The second with the shutter button released. My question is, is it possible to lubricate the mechanism with out having to remove the lens assembly like you did? Thanks

Yes the aperture blades could be cleaned (not lubed) if you dig yourself into the lens from front. Wash them gently with a couple of drops of white spirit. Work the shutter while they are wet. It might work. Often they get stucked again then you need to take it apart. Good luck!

Hey. Thanks for the quick response. I was able to remove the front lens assembly and get to the little spring toward the bottom of the lens that helps return the aperture blades to the open position. I re-adjusted it for a bit more tension and it worked like a charm. The blades themselves where in really good shape and didn't need any lubing after all. Quick fix. Super happy. Just finished putting it back together. Gonna go shooting! Thanks for the help.
