Hello,

This is my first post and it's about a Konica big mini I have bought at a fleamarket. It's a Konica big mini 510z and I have placed a new battery. Unfortunatly, I don't have a film roll at the moment.

When I turn the camera on it seems to work (zoom, flash and shutter), but I don't see the film right side progressing. Secondly, I don't see any information on the tiny LCD screens???

How can I try to fix the tiny LCD screen so the info will be displayed? I don't mind disassembling the 510z and to check for any wrongs, if anyone can point me out what to look for?

Any repair information is welcome.

Regards

I bought one for a messy daughter when she went to college. She said that it wasn't working. It looked perfect. I asked if something had happened to it. Answer: yes, I spilled 7-up on it.

@charjohncarter, haha I read your posts back in http://rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78044 , also 3 cars, right?! Or more since then ;)

I also read in the thread the ribbon cable is a failure. My BM does flash and seems to make a photo. I did see one | quickly, so I thought just pressing would do the trick, like a 1980's watch. But that didn't work, still an blank display.

Here's the inside and the ribbon seems to be OK (this side). Now in general how does the display work? It's the light grayish part behind the foam. Is the display also connected to the ribbon?

Oh and should the ribbon be visible or is this photo an example of a "Konica Big Mini Ribbon Cable Snap"

and battery side (seems to be ok)

Ribbon cable seems like a good reason, that is probably what happen to my daughter's. We are still at three cars, but every car since it is only months before all four corners are scraped, and the inside (I don't want to talk about it).

But for the short time that camera was working it really produced great photos.
