I just bought a used Konica C35 rangefinder, and all seems to work great EXCEPT for the light meter. The new battery that I've put in is a Z675PX 1.4V Zinc Air battery (as far as I know, this is the standard replacement for the old PX-675's). However, when I look through the viewfinder at a well-lit subject, the meter needle doesn't budge... Any tips? Or is this thing just ready to be retired...?

Even if the light meter doesn't work, should I still be able to take decent outdoor shots pretty reliably?

If the meter is dead then there is a default exposure, but I can't remember what it is. Something like 1/30, and maybe f2.8? Even if it's f5.6 or so, not very helpful in really bright situations.

It won't hurt to open up the bottom and check for corrosion, broken wires, etc.

Yes, Try a FRESH or GOOD battery, then put a paper match piece between the camera base and the MINUS contact . Sometimes the contacts loosen and short out.
