Hi,

I am interested in using my Canon LTM lenses on a Konica RF. Anyone used this combo? If so, what were the pros and what were the cons of this combination.

I assume it can be done. All I should need is a 35-135 adapter. I just wonder about the metering system. I know it will be stop down meter, but will the meter be accurate.

I did a search on RFF to see if anyone had posted about this topic, but I did not find anything. If I missed something can someone give me a link.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Sure, there's no problem. Metering is normal, not stop-down mode. Use a ltm to M mount adaptor that brings up the correct frameline for the lens you are using. My new favourite combo is the HRF with Canon 28mmf3.5.

Hello Maiku...

Yes, I use LTM on my HRF. My favorite is the CV 25mm Snapshot Skopar:

Jeez Louise Realafan.... that is one amazing photo!

Thanks, for the responses. I seriously have to look at a Konica RF. I like the idea of a advance motor and a top speed 1/4000 of second.

All rangefinders use "stop down" metering mode since they don't need to focus through a wide open aperture then stop down for taking the image.
That said, there is no effect of using a Canon LTM lens (or any for that matter) on a Hexar RF body.
The Hexar is a fantastic camera, you won't be sorry about owning one.

I have many LTM lenses that I use on Hexar RF. CV 75/2.5, 50/1.5, 21/4 as well as Nikkor 5cm/1.4, Jupiter-9 85/2, etc. All work great - all you need is a LTM to M adapter.

I was sorry. Sent it to Konica 3x to get the RF aligned and every time I got it back it was worse. Under warranty and after the warranty expired. In addition, there were other things I disliked, but they were personal preferences: low VF magnification and did not like the way the metering worked (was really designed to be used mostly in AE which I never use). I was real sorry I bought it, and lost a lot of money on the sale since I had to disclose the impossible-to-align RF.

So you had a lemon - this happens. I have 3 Hexars and all never had any problems, including RF alignment. I think your experience is one of the few. It's not like Leica or any other cameras are problem free and they cost a LOT more. I'm not sure what you mean about metering, I dont have any issues with it - manual or AE. Low VF magnification - well - you did know the specs before you bought the camera, right?
I think Hexar RF is a great camera. Perfect - no, but a very good one - thats for sure.

The RF alignment problem is well known, Mr. 3Hexars. It was prevalent amongst the early production models. They made lots & lots of lemons and lots of folks complained. Then they changed something in the RF assembly and it got better.

As I said, the other things are personal preferences. I'm happy you're happy. You don't have any issues with the metering and I did. Shall we argue about it? 😀

I would not tell someone they won't be sorry if they order uni at the sushi bar even though I love it. Some folks think it tastes like rotten fish. Isn't the first-time uni-eater entitled to know that so they can make their own decision about trying it?

And you have evidence to prove this? Or is based on internet stories? Or you own experience with ONE camera? I speak based on my experience. I understand that 3 cameras is not a huge sample to go by, but still.....better than one.🙄

Even here on RFF you dont hear about many Hexars with problems - just a handful of people posted about it, while there are lots more Hexar users that never had any issues. Actually better track record than some other cameras.

how about autofocus with this combination?

Will the Hexar RF autofocus with threaded lenses and adapter?
