I have been wondering how good the split image focusing is on the xe2 compared to using the focus peaking. From what I have read, the split image is kind of like the slr style..
- which approach do u find faster w/ legacy lenses?
- which ended up accurate.
Now that my xp1/xe1 has focus peaking, I have decided to go back and re-evaluate legacy lenses on the Fuji cameras. So far even w/ focus peaking, I am not as fast w/ it then the Ricoh gxr or Sony Nex implementations. Without the ability to change the focus peaking color as in the Sony, I cannot get close. The Ricoh gxr will handle more lenses then the Fuji but these days I am finding that I tend to shoot more from 35 on up. Even my Ricoh gr shots tend to get cropped to around 35-50 fov.
Thanks
Gary

Thanks.. Cug
Looks like either everyone else agrees with you or there really not many out there that use legacy lenses on their xe2. Anyway.. Outside of the Nikon lenses that I have the speedbooster for, w/o the a different color then white focusing, I just not as fast w/ the Fuji as I am w/ the Ricoh or the Nex. So back to the Ricoh w/ the Leica lenses.

The other cameras are fast enough for my usage compared to the Fuji xp1 or xe1..that the Leica lenses go back to the Ricoh gxr. I will re-evaluate after they implement their next peaking update.
Thanks again

I'd like to try the "split circle" or whatever the X-E2 uses. I like that on SLRs and it seems the perfect melding of through the lens viewing with a rangefinder like comparison tool. Peaking, Schmeaking, I had it turned off for a few days and didn't even notice. I could care less if it had it or not, I didn't use it for what....40 years?
I only use Legacy lenses on my X-E1. Took it again on a road trip this weekend with my teenage daughter, and both of us were commenting on how we have no trouble focusing. Other than the 75MPH attempt to shoot an old water tower out the car window.
Maybe it's because my background was, briefly, with shipboard intel photography, then large format, but I see no reason to be rapid fire shooting. I don't shoot sports, race cars or even street that often. If I do, I'm stopped down to F8-11, and don't worry about focusing, I'm in the zone.
Here is one the first week I had the X-E1, with a Canon 50/1.4 RF lens. Everyone is different, but I just don't see any problem using this camera, and I would probably be slower with an M9.

Gary, don't know about the Fuji's, but I have the same experience as you with the NEX… Manual focusing works very well with the NEX focus peaking, both on the LCD and the EVF.

Wait...wasn't this forum section, and thread, about Fuji X-E1/2 cameras and legacy lenses?
