Has anyone tried using the Leica 1.4x viewfinder magnifier as a tele-extender or tele-conversion lens on a better quality camera phone?
Issues would be sharpness (center/corner), distortion, and vignetting… if it works at all.
Inexpensive optics marketed for the purpose generally don't seem to work too well, but I imagine the Leica optic might do rather nicely (?)
It would be particularly interesting to hear the results with a Nokia 808 that has a relatively large sensor.

I have the 1.4X magnifier and tried what you suggest on my cheap LG cellphone. It actually works, though I had some rather severe vignetting (the image is basically a round circle). Surprisingly sharpness isn’t all that bad. To me, it’s more a novelty than anything, but it does work.

Thanks for the reply.
Maybe this would be more interesting with the 1.4x 35mm->50mm conversion lens for the Fuji X100 series.
Anyone own one of these who would be willing to try it with a camera phone?
