Leica 12008 vs. 12012 (21mm finders)

The 12008 has a plastic mount with a sliding lock type of switch that must be set to the right when mounting the finder and moved to the left to 'lock' the finder in place.
I believe the 12012 has a metal mount with no locking device.
I saw a 12008 for sale on a site that did not have the locking switch which I assume had broken off as its just plastic. I am leavng my 12008 permenently attached to my M7 to avoid breaking the switch. Since everything is plastic, the finder is very light consequently.-Dick

Here is what I know about Leitz/Leica 21mm finders. There are at least 3 numbered versions and subvarients. There is the 12012 metal finder with standard shoe. The 12008 comes in at least two subvarinets, one branded Leitz and one branded Leica. I have to assume tha both have the plastic mount with locking switch as the one I have is labeled Leitz or did that change with the Leica branding to just a mount?
The new finder is the 12013 21/24/28 finder.
Now my question is out of all of these finder which one will not break off the camera and last? The 12008 seems like it will certainly break and as Brno says the 12012 doesn't have parallax correction. The 12013 finder does not have bright line framing.
So which is the best? No other finders need be considered. -Dick

Roger, I'm trying to confine my information gathering to Leitz/Leica at the moment.
From my searching, I have found that the Zeiss finder is usually considered the best if money is no object. I indeed may go that way if my 12008 breaks as I expect that it will. Thanks-Dick

Dear Dick,

Ah; you have indeed guessed what I was going to say. I have the original Leica 21 finder, a Voigtländer and a Zeiss, and I've tried the non-locking-foot plastic Leica...

Cheers,

Roger

Decision made. Purchased Zeiss off eBay for $275 + shipping NIB. We will see!
I just can't have equipment falling apart and my best guess is that the Leitz plastic 12008 will eventually break.Thanks-Dick

Zeiss 21mm finder arrived. View is bright and clear. Finder is built like a tank in Japan probably like others have suggested by Cosina.
Since the M hot shoe mount is offset form the centerline of the lens and the Zeiss doesn't have an offset like the 12008, I will have to conduct framing tests for not only horizontal framing but since i am using this on an M7. I will need to conduct vertical framing tests also. I may have to use the parallax marks for vertical framing as others have suggested.-Dick
