Anyone have both a CLE and pre-ASPH Leica 21mm Elmarit that takes 60mm filters? Does it block the rangefinder patch? Thanks

mostly harmless
We here at the CLE RFF have decided to end your 6 month long quest for this information. Hopefully you haven't been checking the board hourly to see if there has been a response to your plea. Lose no more sleep - hoodless, the E60 pre-aspherical 21/2.8 does not block the CLE rangefinder patch. In fact, it does not block that much of the CLE viewfinder window at all - maybe 1/8th to 1/10th. I don't have the hood for this lens (I don't recall whether I was too cheap to get one or whether I was planning to use my one-of-a-kind hand shade), so I can't tell you whether the hood will block the patch or not. I guess we'll need to wait at least another six months for that answer.

almost 6 months... I had this set, CLE + 21mm preasph and it worked well on the CLE at all focusing distances; the focusing patch is never hidden. This 21mm on the CL will not show the focusing patch for shorter distances, for its viewfinder has a shorter base length.
You want anyway to use an external viewfinder with the CLE, therefore having the lens hood visible in the VFF is not a problem. Moreover, a 21mm lens is very appropriate for zone focussing, I would rarely use the focussing patch but prefocus and compose.
