My Leica 35mm f2 ASPH LTM sits off angle to my body, whether it is an IIIg or M body with LTM adapter.

Normally not an issue, except that the lens shade is the plastic rectangular shade, and it then sits about 10 degrees off horizontal. Not only does this look ridiculous, but it will be off-angle to the film gate.

:bang:

Any resolution, other than the obvious .... use a round lens shade?

What were they thinking in Solms?

One of the guys said this in another recent thread about the same thing. The off angle was because many times on the older LTM lenses, people used an external finder. When looking at the lens to see your settings, the external finder would be in the way. With the lens off kilter like that, all the settings are visible.

This is normal. I use to own this lens and it was the same for me. The rectangular hood is not meant to be used with this lens, only the circular hood is suppose to be used with it.

In fact, this limited edition lens was never sold with a rectangular hood it was sold with a dedicated circular hood (i forgot the Leica product number) which is now very difficult to find.

Really? A dedicated circular hood? Oh, if you find the part number, please let me know.

I got the lens as a partial trade, and got the box and everything, except for the hood.

I naturally thought the 12524 hood, for the M version, was the right hood.

Thanks so much for the information.

I did the same when I got my lens, I bought a brand new rectangular hood. I even sent to Leica in Hong Kong for re-alignment but it is in fact impossible to re-align it...

The Leica 12504 circular hood would fit your lens.
