Leica 39mm filter thread

Can someone tell me if the E39 filter for the Leica is the same or a different thread/pitch from the common 39mm filter thread?

Paul, I've always referred to screw in filters as E whatever. A whatever are slip on filters, as in A32 or A37.

Basically, yes. I have a "regular" Tiffen that fits well on my 39mm Summicron 50.

And to add: The rear mount 39mm filters for the 500mm F8 Reflex Nikkor also work on Leica 39mm threaded lenses. The position of the glass puts it close to the front element of some of the lenses.
