I have looked at a black paint lens that has a product code of 11623 on the box. Lens serial number begins with 4010 and is an E46 with slide out lens hood. Is the same as the 11868? I am being told it is the same as the latest pre-asph before the asph came out. Any help would be appreciated. I have not found a website that gives all product codes and descriptions. Thanks, Frank

Yes, I think the optical design formula is the same for both. The only differences being the shinier black finish, underlying brass, the knurled focus ring, red and white painted numbers, and limited production number for the black paint edition.

Yes Frank it is the same as the the last pre-ASPH before the ASPH was released. This was a special BP version for the Millennium camera. See the Hove Leica Pocket Book 7th ed. p. 138.
