I recently got a Leica canvas bag like the one shown below, but it is a bit dirty. I want to wash it but am not sure whether it is machine washable. The neck cushion is made in leather while the others are in canvas I believe.

Does anybody have experience washing such a bag in a washing machine? Will the leather part sustain the wash? Should I take it for a dry-clean instead? Any input is appreciated!

Wash it in the bath with warm water, rinse well, dry and reproof. Problem solved. In fact, I think the original instructions for this sort of thing mention "sponging" dirt off with a damp cloth - so any really bad marks might be a sign of "character" ?! Possibly you could use a paint-on fabric dye, but that could well be a disaster...

I have machine washed my canvas Domke bag but would not do so if it was leather trimmed. A good hand wash and thorough drying might be in order as well as re watering proofing.

Thanks all. It sounds like I should not machine wash it because of the leather parts. I will try sponge cleaning first I guess?
