I succumbed to the fatal "test drive" and purchased a Leitz Minolta CL (per the top plate) with the M-Rokkor 40/2. No pictures yet, but I feel like I already stepped of a cliff, jewel in hand lol.

Can someone with experience with this camera give me some pointers as to practical use and situations where the camera shines and conversely may not be up to the task? I found a manual online so I am familiar with the basic functions, and the camera was recently CLA'd. I seriously doubt it will ever mount anything longer than 50mm, or faster than 1.5. I'm basically looking for expereince with the meter, what the red "light" in the meter means, essentialy the benefits of the experience of others.

Is the red dot the limit for the meter?

I have meaty fingers so sometimes I have the film advance lever too far out and the shutter won't release. Never had that problem with any of my Canon SLRs.

I love mine! It is pretty WYSIWYG.

yeah, it seems that's all it is.

Is there a resource that can tell me what lenses will fit, and what won't? Are there any issues with using screwmount lenses (including Russian and Japanese) with an adapter?

In addition, what is the filter size of the 40mm lens?

Canon and Nikon LTM lenses fit the CL just fine, no worries.

Filter size of the rokkor-m is 40.5mm.
Filter size of the summicron-c is 39mm (different pitch from modern though)

cheers
