O well this sounds ridiculous I know. But it did happen to me. I bought a used Leica CM just for curiosity and put it in my winter coat. Over the past few days, the damn thing auto rewound at least 7 times in my pocket when in power-off status. I didn't think about the static electricity thing until I realized every time the auto-rewinding happened I was trying to reach the camera in my pocket. It is winter in Boston and the humidity is low.

Then I did an experiment: I put the camera in the pocket of a fleece coat, and used a woolen sweater to rub that coat a couple of times. As I heard the sparking of static electricity, the damn camera started to auto-rewind....

very repeatable experiment and now I'm sure the rewind was due to a poor design which never considered any protection against the static electricity. In comparision, my Contax T2 and Hexar AF easily passed the test of static electricity. Shame to Leica....

Anyone else ever experienced this?
