Others in here will know better but there is something i am not sure about. Leica II from 1932 did not have strap eye-lets and the letters on the camera seem a bit dodgy...

It has the serial number of a model II (1931-2-3) but has been factory upgraded to a model III, probably in the late 1930s.

Well, with documents of provenance, it has a bit higher historical value than average. On the other hand, it is upgraded and in below average condition. Might sell for more than $400, but it will take a long time to sell even if the seller accepts less than 10% of the asking price...

POW camp, presumably. By that time, a whole German army had been captured in Libya, with US help.
