Hey,

I have got a Leica IIIF black dial, it appear to be in very good conditions.

I just noted a small hole between the flash sync and the hot shoe... checking on the leica repair manual, appear that this hole should be covered by some "small plate".

It is not so easy to explain it... anyway probably if somebody has the same model will understand what I mean.

My question is the missing of that "small plate" or partially missing of it... will effect in someway the camera working?

Thank you:)

Could you please post a picture? I can't recall ever encountering something like that.

Cheers,
Dez

I attach a screenshot taken from the repair manual.

In selected in red the parts.
1 it is the small hole, window in the top case (just next to the flash sync)
2 the part that should be covering the hole. Like some paper, I have seen it on other cameras.

Just to know if it is important or not... or how it will affect the camera.

Thx:)

The only effect it will have is to allow dirt into the camera. That hole is covered with a small piece of paper-like material. You might be able to cut something to lightly glue into place but be careful to not make it too large since you could cover the flash sync contact. I would make it just big enough to close up the visible hole.
