I am wondering up to roughly which serial number the M 8 was build. Most I saw until now are around 31***** , just saw very few with 33*****.
Does anyone now which are the last serial numbers range the M 8 came with and if there is any difference between the last batch produced and the first ones ?
THX for your help !

Technically there have been diffences as parts were changed to other ones during the production run, but always within the original specification. Leica did do some upgrades during the production span and will always bring any camera that comes in up to the latest (in this case last) technical standard. For all practical purposes there is no reason to prefer a late production model to an early one, especially if it has had a bit of TLC in Solms at one point. There is no need though to send a camera in to be "updated" (too big a word) the differences are that minor. The major point to check is whether a November 2006 camera has had its upgrade but I doubt if there are more than one or two of those original untouched cameras in existence, if any. (all cameras of serial 3100001 through 3101500 and a few cameras up to 3102500, but not all.)I am wondering up to roughly which serial number the M 8 was build. Most I saw until now are around 31***** , just saw very few with 33*****.

Thank you very much for your message Jaap, do you know how I can figure out if a M 8 has been updated ?

I have a question around that as well...It seems most cameras I'm seeing online are in the 101xxx range. Should i not worry about the serial number then? I thought early ones were more prone to issues.
