I just got my M4-P today from a fellow RFF'er and also a Griptac cover replacement from cameraleather.com, I ordered it on Tuesday and received it Saturday! That's fast.

So I decided to go right at it.
Following the many DIY's on here and on respective camera cover replacement sites, I decided to just use the knife method. Specifically I used a larger razor blade for cardboard boxes.

The total time for this project was 2 hours and 15 minutes... from chipping all the vulcanite off, cleaning residue, to applying the new covering and removing the paint from the lettering.

I chose to remove the Leitz red dot and the ASA/DIN reminder on the back, giving it a really nice clean look.

Excited to try out this 50mm f1.4, and this Gossen Digisix. After owning an M8 for awhile, I really do miss these film M's.

I just discovered a small 1" spot near the bottom of the lens on my M3 that has fallen off and I am thinking of replacing the covering also. Your job looks good.

You are lucky to get your camera cover in less than a week. I have been waiting for my kid skin for almost two months. It's time to call the credit card company. I don't think I will see my camera cover form cameraleather.com. You did a nice job with your cover.

Only two months? I've been waiting three.
