Photo of Main Drum on M4 ,top roller centre hub cracked and broken,.

My question is if this was ever listed as a spare part or was the complete Large roller assemble required.

Any members know where i might get this Roller or complete assemble,
any leads greatly appreciated.

I'd try giving Malcolm Taylor a call.

I think his telephone number is 01568 770542, but his full details are listed on this site (somewhere!) - or just google Malcolm Taylor and Leica.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I feel for you. I have nearly the identical problem with my M3. Only difference is the bottom part of my drum is where the break occurred. You're photo looked so much like a photo I took of my camera, I had to do a "double take".

I got a replacement drum from Don Goldberg (DAG Camera Parts). He was very nice and made sure I got the correct version for the year of my camera (especially important on M3s). Reasonable price too (of course its not new, that doesn't exist).

If Don doesn't have another drum, I suppose try the remaining Leica repair geniuses (Sherry, Youxin, Mark).

Good luck!

virtually all of the M film camera parts can still be ordered directly from Leica, either Germany or your national distributor.

Unlike all of the digital Leica camera parts,
which disappear much sooner.

Just my thought on this...there are certain parts on any machine that you're better off buying new (if possible) this in my opinion would be one of them...if it broke on yours it could break on another used replacement part...buying new would be a fresh start & part...
Unless the new one would cost $1000 vs a used one @ $10 and you could install it yourself...
I don't own anything Leica but it's good to know that one could still buy new parts...

Many thanks to all for your informative replies,
Don Goldberg quoted me for a complete roller assemble,
so thats solved that problem.

Thanks again,
Noel
