I cannot imagine a camera I'd be less interested in. A super expensive, fixed lens, digital camera, with premium price because of added engraving. Got an email from PopFlash about it this morning. Meh.
The Q is a good if not a somewhat quirky camera, little doubt in that. There are plenty of good cameras that are unique that's also not that expensive. In fact there is no need to spend to make it unique at all. I could just, for example, use it to make it mine and mine only.
If you buy the uniqueness you're on the right track of Leica's perceived model of consumerism.
Funny thing is this would be quite a viable product should it come the year before. Now that the Q is near the end of its product life, why pay full price plus the added "-P" cosmetic premium instead of waiting for like half a year more for the Q2 (of which the rumors are already out)? I assume the Q-P is made a special edition exactly because Leica is aware of that too...
