I've searched but have not had any success finding the name of the leica repair person associated with the "E" on the wax seal of my M4.

I know that "92" is DAG, "K" or "S" is Sherry ... but does anyone have any idea who "E" is??? I'm located in Toronto and my M4 was purchased locally - could it be David Eve? I tried to reach him by phone but witout success.

Cheers,
Ken

You sure it's not an "L"? When I bought my first M4 new it had an "L" seal. I think the M4 was the last camera that had the letter. The M4-2's I saw new didn't have a letter. I've never an "E" seal. Sorry.

My M5 has the raised, scripted L, as well, and I know it's never been serviced, so the lettering by Leica ended when the M4-2 was introduced.

VISOR - thanks! it's the first one! interesting... my camera was last serviced in Sweden! hmmm... you mention former Leitz agency - are they still in business? if not do you know when they stopped servicing M bodies? mine seems to work fine but I plan to take it to DYau for testing and confirmation that all speeds are fine..

cheers,
Ken

Ken,
Yes, they are still in business http://www.brandt.se but they stopped servicing Leica somewhere around 1990. Even if your M4 works fine is it wise to have it checked as the lubricants dry out wich leads to increased wear.

cheers,
Bjorn
