So what films have you guys noticed leicas in?

2 movies off the top of my head are

Closer - Julia roberts has a Chrome Leica, i only saw it once but i think it was either an m6 or m7. although i could be wrong and it couldve been an MP

and Lord of War - Nicholas Cage has a Leica CL in one of the sc enes when he is at St. Barts.

"After the Sunset".. Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek.. there's a brief scene where something that was hidden inside an M6 is discovered missing

Nick Nolte has at least one M around his neck, amongst the Nikon F2s in "Under Fire", and this may not count, but in "Ronin" Robert DeNiro's character is shown
using an R7.Fred
Nolte used a Canon F-1 in "Under Fire". Don't recall any Leica Ms. (Caveat: I haven't seen the movie since its theatrical release, 'way back.)

I watched Closer today, and remarked that the sound of the Leica (both w/motor and without) was not accurate; at least it didn't seem so to me. In fact, the sound was the same for both motor and sans motor. Sounded more like a quiet SLR, maybe with mirror locked up, but still not the Leica sound that I remember. Or am I just too far removed form my Leica days?

Also note that the photographs of Portman crying next to the window were taken with said Leica, but when they show up (printed mural size!) in Roberts' exhibition, they're full-frame square.

Jep, the Leicas are massproduced items which may not be missed in Movies, just like VW beatles and Chevy Novas 🙂

So, which movies feature Kievs?

I have seen one movie where a guy shot a Contax G, but can't remember which one.

Without looking at someone elses list; I can tell you that in "One Hour Photo", a creepy Robin Williams (Sy The Photo Guy) helped the "object of his affections" one day and she was using a Leica Minilux.

Sy even mentions that it is a Leica in the film "Oh, Leica huh! " or something to that effect 🙂

thought of one more -

the S. Korean film "Old Boy"

im not really sure of which specific cameras are present, but there is most definately rangefinders present, anyways the main "antagonist" is a serious camera collector, and he has more cameras on display in his home than any of us... COMBINED!
