BIN for $250.


I realize that the Military Elcan 90 f/1s go for thousands of dollars if you are able to find them, and I realize that this is not an Military lens but rather an Elcan X-Ray lens, but does the BIN seem really cheap for the lens?

LTM mount, no aperature blades, no Focusing Helicoid, just 90mm of glass.

Well, the BIN seems quite excessive, really, for a loupe. What else is there to do with an unfocusable telephoto lens?

This is a great paperweight to have on my desk. A rangefinder should stay low weight; else I would use my SLRs.

I don't need my rangefinders to be light: that's no concern at all for me. But I do need the lens to focus.

It is a big one, isn't it? The Nikkor 85/2 is a plenty heavy lens (in my experience); the 90 'Cron must be slightly worse, and this thing would be monstrous.

The ebay ad puts the weight at five pounds! That's a bunch of 90mm Summicrons bound together on top of each other.

Guess not, but I do wonder why they made it in LTM mount and not M mount. Easy use in both systems, as opposed to just the M system?

I bought a simillar huge lens made by Leitz and it still is in front me each day. It is the size of a 500mm lens and weighs a ton. I thought that I could somehow find the right adapter for it. The seller mentioned that it could be done. Now I have a ten-fifteen pound lens without a mount.

This is a industrial lens and in this case, one made for x-ray machine. Also 39mm is a fairly common standard to use, like on a CRT, enlarger, etc. Fitted on a SLR, this can make a nice "artistic" macro lens. I'll be interested if it has iris control... alas...

Yikes! I must be really used to SLRs, because I consider my 85/2 Nikkor to be small, light and svelte!
