I keep wondering about celebs and the M8 ... Clapton, Seal etc. We know seal is a Leica fanatic so logically would own an M8 but when you consider what these people earn what drives their choice of camera?

They're photographed by the best photographers and no doubt there is an influence, after all they must chit-chat about stuff while they're shooting.

Kravitz has some other Leicas besides the M8, and has for several years. I know this only because when I worked in a retail store here he came in several times with his leicas, despite us not stocking Leica stuff normally. To everyone I worked with it was a big deal, not so much to me because I was very 'familiar' with his neighbor for a while and one of my friends was part of his touring band (trombone).
but yeah, he shoots Leica and knows his lenses pretty well, and was very protective (and particular) about what went neat his Leicas, even though his income affords him the luxury of throwing it away once it gets a scratch should he choose to do so

Like most of us, some picked up a passion for photography along the way. Others probably were interested at an early age. And for still more, possibly a passing fancy.
It's good to hear that Lenny Kravitz seems to have a very serious interest in photography. Nothing wrong with that, for sure.
Not surprising, as I believe many artists have a creative bent and find outlets for it in different ways.

Lenny Kravitz has been an avid photographer for years, so to assume his M8 is just a rich boy's toy is wrong.

I am a celebrity, but unfortunately, no one has ever heard of me.
One of the more interesting camera/celeb pairings I've seen was Helena Christensen shooting an NPC 195. It was hard to decide who was more beautiful.

There have been, and it can get awkward. Others gather 'round, fawning. The celeb may be full of his celebrity-ness. Irritations arise... I think a celebrity would be smarter to not reveal that and just be a "regular joe". And perhaps some do, and we wouldn't know!Just curious... Any celebs on RFF?
