I am looking for a lens hood for my Yashica Electro 35...It takes a 55mm filter...
I bought a 55mm Hood made for a Wide angle (Did not think it would be block the RF Patch AND the Light meter cell....Uhhhhh
I got it because it has a 45mm lens, not 50mm.
What I need is a lens hood that does not Flute out. Light the old Canon Bayonet types for the FD 50mms...They were like a straight tube from front to back.
Any suggestions on who has some that will work??? A 55mm Vented Hood ??? (I have not seen any above 46mm)
How about getting a bunch of CHEAP EBAY Filters and knocking the glass out and stacking them up...4 - 6 deep ....Humm

I've got a normal 55mm rubber shade from my Konica SLR that seems to work fine. Yes, it is seen in the corner of the viewfinder, which doesn't bother me, but I don't think it blocks the meter significantly. It is not viewable through the lens, however.

I tried a 55 rubber hood in a camera store..It did block the RF Patch...I think I have to try one from HeavyStar...he as a 55mm that does not "Flute"..but is a straight Hood from back to front...

Hope it does not vignette !! It is made for a 50mm FOV..not a 45mm FOV...
OR am I too paranoid about a 5mm FOV differance

The electro 35 GS (GSN, G) came with a designated lenshood which slips nicely on the outer part of the lens. Its made out of stiff rubber and quite short. you may want to look for one, although it might not be easy to find one. but they fit perfectly and because they are quite short they wont block the VF
I was very lucky my 35 GS came with one,
good luck!
