Sometimes the metal ones are on Ebay, sometimes the prices are stupid high.
What about alternatives likes

(I think a flower one would look great, they function fine, but might go with a different seller)

3 from 36 on a good day.
You lose quite a bit of viewfinder real estate with the rubber hoods though they are the most convenient to use. The original metal ones are the nicest looking and obstruct less view.

I buy from Heavystar. No ventilated hoods, but the smaller $9.00 hoods work fine on the CC and the GX. I only use them to protect my lens so I'm not to concerned with flare prevention. I kinda go out of my way to induce it.
But that's just me... Mr. Vegas....![]()
I think I will do that. I mostly want protection, and to look half as cool as everyone in town with their 5dII.

Get an S&W Wide Angle 55mm from Heavystar. It is almost exactly the same depth as the original clamp on hood. Then find a 58mm Yashica clamp on lens cap from one of the SLR lenses, and it fits right on the S&W hood. Also makes your rig look very smart. I got the vented hood for the smaller Yashicas, and it works just fine. Who says only the Leicaphiles can have cool looking gear?

Added 5/26/11: I bought one of the flower hoods for my GTN/MG-1's, but they are not worth it. As soon as you tighten the ring to keep the hood at the proper orientation, it strips past the threads. That happens with plastic parts that are not made to the correct tolerence. There is just not enough depth to the threads to keep the hood tight.
