I seem to recall a discussion of lens pouches and I remember someone mentioning a soft pouch perfect for M lenses. Can anyone recall/recommend one of these? I want to prevent my lenses from scratching each other.

The pouches that came with the Contax G lenses are very nice- I have a bunch of those, but the G lenses were smaller than many of the M lenses so this isn't a great solution for everything you may have. I had a chinese pouch that was pretty good- many sizes available on ebay, but I can't seem to find them on ebay today. American Eagle has some listed that seem similar, the Chinese ones were leather with a microfiber lining.

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for etrigan63? They are not made specifically for lenses but are pretty good. These nylon pouches measure 10cm high and have a base diameter of 6cm and have a drawstring fastening. Don't know if they will fit your Leica lenses (I'm too poor to afford them) but if they do and you can make use of them...they're yours.

A local leather-working shop sold me a couple nice side-zippered ones for my little Voigtlander lenses, but the owner said they are so fiddly to make his suppliers don't like doing them. But you could get some custom-made pretty cheaply.

Here's a picture of the case I use for my collapsible Summicron. I have similar ones for an I-61 L/D and a J-3. Design based on a case (synthetic material) for a 1970s tele-converter. The white strips are Velcro. My friendly neighbourhood cobbler made them for me.

I use an old Gara Gear protective wrap that used to contain my SLR lens. Domke makes wraps as well.

The best ones I've found are the thick, black Neoprene foam w/ a nylon top bags I buy here in Korea. They're about $6.00 and come in three sizes w/ a stout drawstring/ keeper and a strong nylon webbing attachment for the belt. Their brand name is "puleme". Maybe you can Google them or get them off ebay. Like Japan, a lot of good Korean products don't get to the rest of the world due to one reason--language. Many small businesses don't have anyone who can write decent English.

Shoot first, think later
When I need a lens pouch I usually visit a small local photo store and dig inside their used-lens-pouch crate, they normally have hundreds of them in all sizes, I get them for $1-$2 a pop.

Kuvvy,
the pouches arrived safe and sound. Work great on my lenses. Had to take the hood off of my Zeiss 21mm for it to fit.
