"Pick a lens!"
Should pick up my M6 TTL Titanium body next week...I have narrowed my selection down to the four lenses at Igor's but I would like those who are experienced with Leica lenses to help me decide which lens I should get for really good bokeh...
Here they are: http://www.igorcamera.com/leica_lenses.htm
Not sure after all the reading I have done lately if any one of them is better than the other! Yikes...:bang:
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Best,
DaveL

just in general, if i were to pick a first/only lens for shooting, it would be a 35mm lens. i seem to be content with a speed of f2 also.

Might as well get the 35mm f2 ASPH titanium.

Sounds good to me...I think I will like a compact kit to carry around. Anybody have the dimensions to this lens?

50 Noctilux for the ultimate in bokeh. Shoot at 1.0! Wild stuff! Has little to no DOF. Everything is blurred that isn't in focus. Expensive tho but if you're buying the Ti then I guess $ is no object! It's all good. What about the 75/1.4 too?

From what I've read, the 75 would be great...if it were in titanium...although black may not look bad.
Just can't find anyone with the 75/1.4 for sale....er...just check evil bay...dang, those are pricey!

What's your favoured focal length? That's the question you need to answer first.

At the moment, I am thinking that the 35 would be best but not sure about the 1.2 or 1.4.
Bokeh is important for some of my work but I need an all-around lens to start out with.

Thanks, Magus...
When you're at work posting, sometimes you get off track. I meant to type 2.0 or the 1.4...not sure which is better but I am guessing the faster lens is???
Best regards,
DaveL

Why do you want to shop there? While he may have nice items (no experience with his shop), I think you can get a better deal/selection elsewhere. Plus places like KEH have great return policy, so if you dont like what you got - just send it back. This way you can have a better way to pick a right lens for yourself. Just a thought.

Well, I prefer to shop at KEH and in fact, am picking up the M6 from KEH. They just don't happen to have titanium lenses.

Hmmmmmmmmm....Titanium Bokeh is superior to Satin Chrome, Black Anodized, Black Paint or Black Lacquer Bokeh?
By all means buy what you want. Igor also has what might be a nice DR Summicron in old, bulletproof satin chrome which seems to go well with every M body ever made. You could do worse.

Actually, I know you jest, but I have already picked out the exterior finish of the M6. Personal choice.
The selection of finish for the lenses, again personal taste, is based on the finish of the body. I don't like chrome lenses on black bodies. And I don't think much of black lenses on the titatnium bodies. Not at all sure how the chrome lens will look.
Still no lens yet Dave ???

Nah...have to wait to sell something. Once I clean house (garage), I am going for a brace of rangefinders...Nikon and Leica.
Anyone looking for a 51 MGTD? 70 MGB? F5?
Either way, I am looking toward B&W as a specific application. Not 100% happy with the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 but it is okay. Just want to improve...

With the S3 2000...no problem with the 1.4 lens...it is very, very good. The Leica is a bit different because I don't know the lenses that well and then it is complicated by the titanium finish.
Oh, well...can always dream whilst waiting on my sales!
