Here's an interesting problem, particularly for anyone trying to track down intermittent light ingress problems on FED/Zorki shutters.
You've seen that when you cock the shutter of your cam, that the curtains are wound back across the frame at slightly different rates, the following curtain starts off a little behind the first and catches up by the time the metal lips of the curtains are fully home in the cocked position. Right at the start of the cocking action, whilst the curtains are at the left of aperture, light may get in through a small gap between the lips. Try it with the lens off, right up to a strong light, you may be surprised. I have found several of my FEDs and Zorkis can show some level of light ingress. In practical terms, this might not be a problem, I haven't seen evidence of this on my pics yet, but will try to keep light of the lens when rewinding in future. One of the cams, a FED2 shows quite a noticeable strip of light getting in. Maybe the metal strips are not flat against each other? This unit is due a curtain replacement, so is something to consider when setting up.
