I'm wondering if it'd be possible to get the option for another color scheme. This grey on grey is hard on the eyes for me, and the variations of skins available in the user config profile don't make a big difference (unless I missed one). Would it be possible to get something like dark grey text on white/offwhite background? I love reading all the information here but man, it's murder on my eyes for some reason.

Have you tried the white text on dark grey background? That's easy on my old eyes. Think it's called "afterdark".

Yep, and for some reason it's the background color that's troubling for me. And I'm only 33...
edit: Stesm, you are a lifesaver! Somehow I skipped that one browsing through the alternatives. Thank you much!

Freedom! I had no idea I could see something other than grey on grey! Thank you. Why is that the default anyway? You don't have to read very far on usability to discover that it is a bad combination for reading text.

All my browsers are set to display black text on a white ground.

I use the Legacy skin too. I've never liked black or grey backgrounds. I have very good eyesight but they make my eyes feel slightly strained.

I'm using the afterdark zvb354++ blue with larger text. White on grey. Works quite well. Now, if we could get the larger text on DSLRXchange...

It's great that we have the choice. The white text on dark grey background is very classy IMO.

The only annoying thing with this damn web is that it logs you out after a short time (1 day?) and several things - like viewing attached images files attached to forum posts need you to be logged in (Administrator please take note this is ANNOYING! When I am forced to log in it asks me if I wish the site to remember my details but THAT functionality does not work - at least in Firefox so you have to type the entire details in.) This is also a problem with the non default style sheet. You CAN choose another display style but unless you are logged in it will not show up. So it to log in even if you do not intend posting and are just browsing.

I use Firefox and I have never had a problem with it logging me out... even if I don't check it for a day or two.

I have used the "afterdarkVBP+" skin for a while and like it. I thought I'd look at the others since I got my new laptop. Not a fan of the lighter skins. But I can't get my choice to stick; when I log in, I get the "legacy" skin. Change it back to my preferred afterdark+ and it's fine until I log in again.
Any one know what I need to do to keep my choice?
Rob
EDIT:
Never mind, I figured it out, I think: I had to change the skin in the user CP page for it to stick.

Make sure your browser is not clearing the "private" data when you close it. As long as the cookie perists, you are still 'signed in'peterm1 said:The only annoying thing with this damn web is that it logs you out after a short time (1 day?)
