Lightroom 4.2

Bumping this thread. How is this working out for xpro-1 users shooting in RAW?
Are jpegs imported when shooting in camera jpeg or jpeg/RAW? Are you liking the results?

I've been waiting for a move from Apple to get Aperture updated but, have grown weary. Gave Silky Pix a series try and have decided it's just not worth the learning curve.

Appreciate any input and comments.

Both jpeg and raw can be imported together with LR. There are a couple of options for how the two types of files are organized.

The results with LR from XP1 raw files are controversial. Some people say they are fine, others think they are terrible and unacceptable.

In my experience the results are acceptable. I find 1 to 5 photos out of 100 from the 18/2 lens has color ghosting (not CA) on vertical lines in high contrast regions. I have never seen this with the 35/1.4 lens. I have not seen obvious smeaning of green color detail in foliage that many complain about. But I don't study 50 fold crops either. I would not hesitate printing at 9X13 and consider larger prints practical. Someday LR will do a better job with the X-Tran raw files.

The situation is confounded by the fact the the X-Trans sensor does not use an AA filter. This means if you apply sharpening parameters used with raw files from cameras with AA filters, you may not get the best result. In my experience the LR default sharpening parameters do not get the best from the XP1 raw files. More appropriate staring sharpening parameters for the XP1 can be applied automatically during import using a customized preset.

I understand some people have much higher standards than I do. I have seen their results and comparisons and accept their point of view on LR's rendering of X-Trans raw does not meet their needs.

I never shoot jpegs.

Have u tried RPP yet?

I use raw+jpg and import to aperture. Use aperture to figure out which ones ate worth the extra work to run the raw thru RPP.

The good thing is RPP has a batch mode, where u can setup a default profile to use and just export converted tiff.

I re- import to aperture to run thru my aperture process.

During photokina fuji did say they were working with all the vendors including apple.

Anyway this is my work around until aperture support comes. After getting used to aperture workflow, I have hard time w/ LR :(
