i posted the above thread (link) a few days ago which i put in the wrong place, got shifted to 'exhibitions.' no worries.

nudes. perhaps NSFW (although not in-yer-face-nekkid)

this exhibition opened friday, 5th march, in country Oz (victoria, bairnsdale 4 hours east of melb). BUT what i was hoping to point out to the RD1 users out there who ask about portraits and studio work with the RD1, all this work, 52 images, were shot in studio with the RD1S since last july. generally in studio i shoot with the leica digilux 3. but the challenge was to do all this work with the RD1.

whether you like the work or not isn't important. it was a severe challenge, working with models and a small variety of prime CV lenses...15, 21, 28 and 40. i probably wouldn't do it again as a DSLR is quicker to work with...for me.

but hey...it can be done!

cheese,

Unless I am wrong, it is quite exotic to use a rangefinder for studio photography when everyone expects a full size slr camera or even a medium format; but at least that's different and the results (rendering of the photos) will be also different! guess the models will be more relaxed compared to when they are target by a big camera with a big lens. At least on the street, people don't notice me much when I shoot with the r-d1 compared to my previous (small) nidon d40 with prime lens

Anyway I guess the biggest hurdle was the manual focusing? other than that, what did you miss most from the dslr experience?
