I got one of these in black a while back, but just stuck it on a shelf and didnt use it. This past weekend weather turned out pretty good and we decided to visit our local zoo. And I thought it would give me a chance to finally try it out. I used it on RD1S. Pretty challenging task - short RF base for such a lens, no framelines, slow-long focus throw. Seems like a losing proposition. While I did have about 30% of pics that were way off - I need more practice for sure, - I did end up with a several that I like (not all in perfect focus, but I like them anyway). Afterall - its a great lens that doesnt cost all that much, not too heavy or large (well, long-ish) and has pretty pleasant signature:

Nice timing. I have a very Canon 135mm 3.5 on the way. I don't have a specific use for it, but the seller was asking a fair price, the lense looked pristine and the seller was from around where I grew up.

I need to get my Canon P fixed for the framelines, as I can't imagine how much I'd botch shooting a lens that long without some help. I frame tight and would end up missing most shots. :)

that is my favourit also: the backgrounds does it for me: the color of the sky together with the feel given by the clouds looks as if it was taken in a photostudio with the customer patiently waiting for his portrait

Well, funny enough it was taken inside. They have things decorated as if it was in a wild, but birds are much closer and eniroment looks sort of "real".
